elebrate Diwali – ‘MINDFUL’Wali
Hello, our avid Reader wishes you all a very Happy Diwali & Prosperous New Year. Diwali- the festival of Lights, is one of the most celebrated festival of the year. Even though everything about Diwali is related to Lord Rama but on this day we worshipped Goddess Lakshmi & Lord Ganesha. Ever wondered why ???
As we all know that Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth while Lord Ganesha is the God of Wisdom. So when it comes to wealth, one needs to have the wisdom to use it properly and attain prosperity in life. That’s why we worshipped Goddess Lakshmi & Lord Ganesha together to restore the balance between these two forces – Wealth & Wisdom.
So here are some personal finance thoughts for this festive season :
1) Align your Expenses with Income: Diwali is the time when Families are on spending mode. Right from buying clothes, gifts, home décor & appliances, etc for themselves or for their loved ones we all indulge so much, as this is the only month to shop for. But it is very important that your spending should be aligned with your income. One should always be mindful and realistic towards shopping so that this festive time won’t hurt your Long term goals. It is always advisable to have a budget in place & set priorities in shopping.
2) Let the Experience counts not the material objects: In our childhood, we all look forward to these festivals. That is the only time when new clothes were bought, elaborate meals with certain sweets were made that too with the rationing of quantities, crackers were burst in large groups so that everyone can enjoy. Now we don’t wait for the festive season to buy clothes & jewelry. It feels good that our prosperity to spend has increased over the years. But one thing is there, we always remember the moments which bring a smile to our face not the décor or expensive crockery we have been served. So it’s important to collect these experiences, don’t let materialistic objects take away money & attention.
3) Resist splurging and share the joy: Had you ever given a thought to why we love spending on clothing, accessories, home décor, etc??? Definitely, it gives us a sudden pleasure, a feeling to be better than others which is so momentous. Actually, as a human being, we crave appreciation & acceptance. Rather one should not compare the enjoyment with spending money on things & on people with the intention to impress but should find out the better use of money with which you can actually share the joy.
4) Clear the Clutter: Each one of us had so many things which we don’t use like those expensive clothes which you don’t wear, some accessories, home equipment which are working but you want to upgrade. This festive season takes out time & heart to LET IT GO. Like how we clean our home by letting go of some old stuff and arrange everything neat, tidy & organized the same thing one should do with their finances- take out time to organize your financial documents, check your investments, Put your money to better use. So make this festive season the time to clear up the clutter.
5) Be kind to the less privileged: One should always be grateful for what all one is blessed with. Festival time is not only for gifting those from where you get in turn. People do charity to unknown but charity should begin from home. During festive season pay your support staff well as because of them you are able to manage your work properly & with peace. Give them a day break & bonus so that they can also enjoy their festival with their family
Conclusion:
In the end, I would just want to say that we should apply wisdom in whatever we do & wealth and prosperity definitely follow. With these simple thoughts, one can bring change in their life as well as in the life of others. Be safe and Be happy. Nivesh Ki Pathshala, Wishing you all a very HAPPY DIWALI.
